Thalis Engineering was founded (2014) in Cyprus, in an effort for addressing, effectively and successfully, the different challenges that occur from the use of solar energy and renewables in general. Both engineering wise as well as commercially.
Thalis developed activities in the Renewable Energy sector, the new Competitive Energy Market, RE project management, R&D, integration, and commercialization of advanced CSP technology systems. During the past 7 years, Thalis has been developing the SolarDish®, a novel innovative Dish-Stirling CSP system with Thermal Energy Storage (TES) using high temperature phase change material (PCM). SolarDish® technology is today a few steps away before large scale commercialization, and Thalis anticipates that its first demonstration 2MW project (due to be in operation late 2022 – early 2023) will be the kick-off towards offering the system to the global renewable energy market.
Thalis maintains a strong R&D team in the US, consisting of renown experts in the Dish-Stirling technology.
Owners of Thalis are two well-known and prominent Cypriot businessmen, Mr. Joseph Avraamides, Mr. Pavlos Liassides and Dr. David Townley (based in the US) who is leading the R&D team. Mr. Liassides is also the President of the Cyprus Business Association for the Competitive Energy Market.
Create and develop innovative technologies and solutions to power up the global energy transition with advanced solar electric systems that are cost effective, sustainable, and an endless source of electricity for our planet; a carbon-free electricity generation system boosting the green revolution all over the world.
Our company’s name was inspired by the history, scientific work, and innovative thinking of the Greek Ancient philosopher Thalis o Milisios (Direct translation from Greek, keeping the correct pronunciation).
Thalis o Milisios (or Thales of Miletus), according to Aristotle was the first and oldest of the pre-Socratic philosophers. (623 BC – 545 BC). Thalis is recognized for bridging the worlds of myth and reason by breaking from the use of mythology (and Theology) to explain the world and the universe, and instead to explain natural objects and phenomena by looking for causes within the natural, observable world; a precursor to modern science.
Thalis, among other discoveries and theories ascribed to him, is considered the first scientist who discovered electricity, after observing, studying, and describing magnetic qualities within some objects.
Thalis Engineering was founded in an effort to address effectively and successfully the engineering and commercial challenges that occur from the use of solar energy and renewables. This effort has proven to be a significantly difficult puzzle and a challenging riddle to solve. Thalis’ team, after demonstrating in practice the ability to think innovatively and to diligently search, adopt, adapt, develop, and integrate different technologies into winning new systems, fairly consider themselves as competent scrabble solvers in their field.
Focus on the most endless and sustainable energy source of our planet, solar radiation, and work diligently and effortlessly towards harvesting, developing, adapting, and integrating the best globally available ideas, technologies, materials, human resources, and practices in order to provide the world market with solutions that will contribute effectively to the implementation of our vision for a cost effective, safe, and carbon emission-free dispatchable energy generation system.
